A*STAR Interactive Video

By submitting the form to the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (“A*STAR”), I declare that all information is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I acknowledge and consent for all personal data stated in the form to be used by A*STAR, its vendors and/or subcontractors for local and overseas applications. I agree to the purposes that have been specified in A*STAR’s Privacy Policy here: https://www.a-star.edu.sg/privacy-statement. I understand and consent that all personal data disclosed in this form will be retained by A*STAR, its vendors and/or subcontractors, for as long as the terms of A*STAR’s Privacy Policy remain valid. I also understand and hereby agree that this constitutes valid notification of purpose and consent for the collection, use and disclosure of my personal data by A*STAR as required under the Personal Data Protection Act.

Terms and Conditions by A*STAR

All digital contests held by the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (“A*STAR”), including contests on the A*STAR Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/astarsg/) and A*STAR Instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/astarsg/) and all other digital platforms belonging to or associated with A*STAR, are subject to these Terms and Conditions. All digital contests are open to those residing in Singapore. If one participates in a digital contest via a digital platform, he/she must do so using his/her own registered account. Notwithstanding the foregoing, all digital contests are not open to employees of A*STAR, its vendors and subcontractors. A*STAR reserves the right to exclude/disqualify any participant/submission from its digital contests.

By participating in our digital contest, the participant agrees with the following:

all personal data submitted may be used by A*STAR, its vendors and/or subcontractors in accordance with their own privacy policies for purposes including communicating with and contacting the participant in relation to the contest, for other verification purposes, as well as publishing the results, name and photographs (taken with consent from the participant) on any or all of the A*STAR digital and social media platforms used for the digital contest, and publicity purposes and any other purpose A*STAR deems appropriate and;
the copyright and all other intellectual property rights of all submitted information and materials for the purpose of the digital contest vests solely in A*STAR without compensation to the participant or any third party.

All winners will be announced on the A*STAR social media page(s) and/or any other digital platforms belonging to or associated with A*STAR that are used for the purpose of the digital contest, after the contest commences. All winners will be notified via email contact after the indicated result announcement date. Prize collection and/or delivery information and instructions will be provided in the same Notification. All winners are required to provide their full name, contact number and email address for verification purposes.

If the personal collection of prizes is required, the winner must collect the prizes within a period of ten working days from the day of the Notification. Personal prize collections are to be done within working days, during working hours, failing which A*STAR reserves the right to forfeit the prize. If a personal collection of prizes is to be authorised by a third party, the winner must issue a letter of authorisation. The appointed and authorised representative must produce the original copy of the authorisation letter and proof of identification upon request.

If prize delivery is required, the winner must provide his/her mailing address, preferred date and time of delivery within ten working days from the day of the Notification, failing which A*STAR reserves the right to forfeit the prize.

A*STAR reserves the right to dispatch the prize in the manner it deems reasonably appropriate. All posted and delivered prizes are subject to and applicable to the laws and guidelines in relation to COVID-19.

All prizes issued are non-transferable, non-refundable and not exchangeable for cash, credit or any other item, and are not subject to warranty. All prizes are subject to availability, and A*STAR reserves the right to substitute and/or replace prizes that amount to a similar value to the prize mentioned in the digital contest at its discretion without prior notice to participants and winners.

Winners will be selected by A*STAR. The decision on all winners is final, and no appeals will be accepted. All participants are to accept and abide by any and all decisions pertaining to the Terms and Conditions, rules, regulations and procedures, including the selection of winners and awarding of prizes, and any other matters in relation to the digital contests, by A*STAR.

A*STAR reserves the right to disqualify any winner or forfeit his/her prize in the event of a breach of the Terms and Conditions. In this regard, A*STAR reserves the right to select a replacement winner at its discretion.

All digital contests organised and held on social media platforms are in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook or Instagram. Any information submitted by participants or winners is provided to the A*STAR only.

A*STAR reserves the right to amend and modify these Terms and Conditions, the terms of all digital contests, including suspending, postponing, terminating, extending or shortening the contest period without prior notice. A*STAR shall not be responsible for the cash, credit, in-kind payment, or compensation arising from the foregoing.

Every participant is to bear all costs and expenses incurred from participation in the digital contest. A*STAR shall not be responsible for any of these costs or reimbursements.

A*STAR shall not be liable for any loss, damage, personal injury and/or death in relation to the digital contest, or any prize, except any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Every digital contest shall be governed by the laws of Singapore. In the event of any inconsistencies between these stated Terms and Conditions, and any other marketing, promotional or publicity material pertaining to the digital contest, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

A*STAR Interactive Campaign’s Terms and Conditions

A*STAR Interactive Campaign（the “Campaign”）is organised by A*STAR and is subject to the following terms and conditions.

By participating in the Campaign, you hereby accept these participation rules indicated in the interactive video, the campaign’s social media posts and this terms and conditions page. If you do not wish to accept these rules, please do not enter.

To qualify for participation in the Campaign, you must be over 13 years of age. If under 13 years of age, you must first obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian.

The campaign will take place from 10 - 31 January 2023. The campaign is open to Singapore residents only, except the employees of A*STAR, its vendors and subcontractors involved in this campaign. Multiple entries from the same account and email address are not allowed.

Participants who complete the interactive video and form and fulfil all campaign requirements will qualify for the following Weekly Draws and Grand Draw, subject to the prevailing terms and conditions.

a) Weekly Draws

Participants who complete the full interactive video, regardless of ending (receive 0 to 3 stars), will be entitled to the Weekly Draw. Participants who did not win in the first week will have their names snowballed to the following week. Thirty (30) winners will stand a chance to win a pair of tickets for a guided visit to the A*STAR technology exhibition at FusionWorld. A*STAR will reach out to winners on the guided tour booking details.
FusionWorld guided tours are conducted by bookings and organised basis only, and are available from Mondays to Fridays (excluding Public Holidays) between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Bookings are subject to availability and are based on a first-come-first-serve basis. Walk-ins are not allowed. All visitors must be aged 12 and above. Each guided tour is 60 minutes, and our guided tours are fully conducted in spoken English only. FusionWorld reserves the right to turn down any visit requests, or deny access at A*STAR’s discretion. b) Grand Draw

Participants who complete the full interactive video, and defeat the Food Monster (receive 3 stars), will be entitled to the Grand Draw. Ten (10) winners will stand a chance to win in the Grand Draw. The Prizes include one (1) Grand Prize of Universal Studios Singapore One-Day Tickets for 4 persons, and nine (9) Consolation Prizes of a pair of Gold Class Movie e-vouchers. Winners of any week’s draw will not be eligible for the next Weekly Draw or Grand Draw.
After the campaign closes, winners will be announced in February 2023 on A*STAR’s digital platform(s). Winners will be notified via the email contact provided in the form. A*STAR’s decision in selecting the winners is final, and no appeals will be accepted.
The winner has to provide the organiser with his/her full legal name and business email via a form in the video for the lucky draws.
By participating, participants consent to public disclosure of their social media handles. A*STAR reserves the right to use the winner’s social media handle for the purpose of any announcement or promotional, marketing or publicity purposes in any media without any fee to be paid.
Entry to this Campaign is free of charge and open to all Singapore residents except employees of A*STAR, its vendors and subcontractors. In the event that the winner is found to reside overseas, A*STAR shall have the right to suspend prizes delivery without any legal liabilities.
A*STAR takes no responsibility for the travel fee of the winners, including but not limited to visa application, transportation and accommodation.
In cases where a prize cannot be delivered due to causes originating with the prize winner, the prize will automatically be considered waived. A*STAR assumes no responsibility for any such outcome and will not reissue the prize in such cases. Upon receiving their prizes, prize winners will be expected to confirm completion of delivery by notifying A*STAR directly, except where abnormal circumstances prevent this. A*STAR shall not be liable for any accidents or damages suffered by winners relating to the use or receipt of prizes. Prizes may not be exchanged for cash. If unforeseen circumstances prevent the distribution of a prize, A*STAR reserves the right to issue an equivalent prize in its place, which may or may not be of the same value. Replacement awards may not be exchanged for cash. Once prizes have left A*STAR’s premises, A*STAR takes no responsibility for prizes damaged, delayed or lost in transit. Use of a false name or contact information will result in disqualification.
If the winner(s) fails to redeem his/her prize, this will be deemed as a waiver of prizes. A*STAR will not be held responsible for rescheduling, replacement, or other liabilities.
Employees of A*STAR, its vendors and subcontractors can participate in the Interactive Video, but will not be eligible for the Weekly Draws and Grand Draw for the public. A*STAR employees who have selected the employee option in the form, and/or included their A*STAR business email address, should refer to internal announcements made via the internal channels, including A*Connect and eDM.
Participants understand that they are providing their information to A*STAR. The information an entrant provides will only be used for the purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions. Any questions, comments or complaints about this Campaign must be directed to A*STAR, not Facebook. For any questions, please write to A*STAR via Facebook private messenger or Instagram direct messenger. A reply will be provided at the earliest convenience.
A*STAR is not responsible for entries to the Campaign that cannot be processed due to any technical or operational reasons. Entries that are lost, late, misdirected, incorrect, incomplete, for any reason whatsoever, will not be eligible.
A*STAR reserves the right to make reasonable adjustments to the above terms and conditions in keeping with standard practices for similar events and the transfer of public gallery rights. Please refer to these terms regularly to ensure you are aware of and understand any changes made by A*STAR. By continuing to use this site, you accept these terms and conditions as legally binding regardless of any changes occurring herein.

A*STAR's Personal Data Protection Brief

The A*STAR Personal Data Protection Brief sets out how the A*STAR GROUP (including the Research Institutes, centres, networks, consortia, subsidiaries and other units) collect, use or disclose Personal Data in compliance with the PDPA.

Consent, Purpose and Notification

A*STAR GROUP/ENTITY will notify individuals of the purposes for which their Personal Data is collected, used or disclosed by the A*STAR GROUP/ENTITY and ensure that the individuals' consent have been obtained for such purposes.

Access and Correction

Individuals can make a written request to gain access, correct their Personal Data or withdraw consent to the processing of their Personal Data.

Accuracy

A*STAR GROUP/ENTITY will take reasonable efforts to ensure that Personal Data collected by or on behalf of the A*STAR GROUP/ENTITY is accurate and complete.

Protection

Reasonable security arrangements will be put in place to protect Personal Data in the A*STAR GROUP's/ENTITY's possession or control from unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modifying, disposal or such similar risks.

Retention

Personal Data will be retained for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it is collected or for business or legal purposes, or in accordance with applicable laws.

Transfer limitation

A*STAR GROUP/ENTITY will put in place agreements to regulate third-party service providers outside Singapore to process Personal Data from A*STAR GROUP/ENTITY for administrative, business and/or legal purposes.
